The 23rd annual HanoHano Huki Ocean Challenge presented by the HanoHano Outrigger Canoe Club was one for the books. Over 600 paddlers of all ages, from top level professional athletes to beginners, came to participate in SUP and outrigger races.
We were lucky to be the gold sponsor of the event this year, and donated a one-of-a-kind ISLE paddle board to be raffled off when the races were over. HanoHano prides themselves on the fact that they have "the best raffle west of the Mississippi," so many attendees left with some killer prizes at the end of the day.
The races were held at the beautiful Bonita Cove in Mission Bay, CA on Saturday, January 27th. It was a sunny, but crisp morning. The smell of roasted coffee beans filled the cove, as competitors arrived and warmed up for their races. Throughout the day the short and long races went underway and competitor's had to face some windy conditions, adding more spice to each race.
By late afternoon, all the races were over and one lucky winner left with an a one-of-a-kind ISLE Glider paddle board.
