5 Great Paddle Adventures To Try This Valentine’s Day Weekend

Posted on February 9, 2022 by Reed Naliboff

You’ve heard it said before: a penny for your thoughts? When you’re on the water, do you ever wonder how many moments the ocean has borne witness to the times you’ve laughed, cried, and everything in between? The number must be endless. After all, paddle boarding is the love language for every type of adventurer.

As Valentine’s Day approaches, we wonder how many more life-giving moments the ocean will bear witness to. So whether you’re spending the day with your significant other, family, or by yourself, we’ve laid five great paddle adventures you should try this Valentine’s Day weekend.

1: SUP CAMPING

First up on the list is a camping getaway! For the lovers in your life who love some good old quality time, or just some time deep into a national park or local campsite, this is a gift that can’t be packed away in the attic when the weekend ends, but can be talked about for years to come. So, grab your loved one or entire family, pack your gear, including your paddle board(s), and hit the road for a camping site that has close access to a waterway for a paddle or two… or three. We recommend an inflatable paddle board for ease of transport, and because they take up less storage space when traveling. And if you want to try going somewhere you’ve never been, it’ll add another notch of adventure to the trip!

2: SUNSET PADDLE

Another great way to spend some time with a loved one this Valentine’s Day weekend is by taking a sunset paddle! Long walks on the beach are great, but there’s something special about being on the water that’s relaxing, romantic, and just the right amount of adventurous. Either bring along two paddle boards so you can ride next to each other, or bring a board like the Scout or Megalodon for bringing an additional passenger along. This is a great way to have quality time with a loved one, without the distraction of screens, and you’ll have a painted sky surrounding you on the water as an added plus.

3: SUP PICNIC

Did you really think picnics were an on-land-only activity? We don’t blame you! Enjoy a nice lunch on the water with friends, family, or your significant other. This is the perfect activity for all types of valentines in your life, and you have the option of paddling out to your favorite spot, or having the picnic somewhere you’ve never been! For those throwing a “valentine’s day” get together, your SUP is the perfect place to lay out a fancy charcuterie board for sharing. We recommend the Pioneer for this activity, or the Megalodon for a picnic made for the whole family.

4: SUP SNORKEL OR SCUBA DIVE

For the adventurous valentine in your life, SUP snorkeling or scuba diving is filled with boatloads of fun (without the boat, of course). Depending on where you live, you can paddle along the coastline, or use a map to find the best spots to scope out some marine life in the wild. In order to make sure your SUP stays in place, get a lightweight anchor you can drop into the water, and spend your time exploring the wonders of marine life below you. We advise you to wear a PFD, and recommend the Pioneer or the Explorer for SUP snorkeling!

5: SUP FISHING DAY

You may be wondering, is SUP fishing really the next big thing? This is the perfect activity for those who have never tried SUP fishing, or for fishing aficionados who thought they needed a boat to go out and get their biggest catch yet. For those who may not like the activity from a boat or pier, fishing on your SUP brings a whole other level of satisfaction (and fun)! This will be a gift that brings a lot of laughter, smiles, and love to your time on the water with a loved one. You can find our recommended paddle boards for fishing here.
